The Bílý jeřáb tearoom is located in Prague's Smíchov - the centre of the left bank of the Vltava river. You can find us a few minutes walk from the busy intersection at the Shopping centre Nový Smíchov, and equally close from the nearby Kinsky Garden, which connects the Anděl area with Petřín hill. In a quiet and calm modern environment you can have a rest and use our services.
We offer homemade vegetarian and vegan food, desserts created to our own recipe, a supplementary offer of three top French wines and non-alcoholic beverages. Nevertheless, exclusive teas are, of course, the core of our offer. We serve them informally, but with the utmost attention to the quality and your comfort.
On weekdays, you can try our daily menu (soup, main dish, tea) at a discounted price.
We look forward to meeting you in the Bílý jeřáb tearoom
The Bílý jeřáb tearoom was opened in April 2004 in response of its founders, the tea lovers, to the absence of a truly cultural, hygienically and esthetically suitable environment for drinking tea. Since then, the Bílý jeřáb tearoom has been passing through the continual development and changes, however its main idea and vision has remained intact.
Our goal is to provide our guests with a quiet and clean environment for savouring a tea and to keep the maximum quality of all served teas.
Although smoking of water pipes has become almost synonym for a tearoom in the Czech Republic, the Bílý jeřáb tearoom does not offer these services and our environment is strictly non-smoking. It is similar also for various “spiritual” activities. Although we do not deny the considerable spiritual aspect of tea, certainly it is not the only thing on which it is needed to be held on to when savouring a tea. The serving of a faith or spiritual system is not our goal. What is, on the other hand, missing in Czech tearooms is good food. That is why our services includes also quality vegetarian and vegan cuisine and a selection of tea desserts and confections.
Although we consider "the Czech tea wave" as a small miracle, which is unprecedented even in other traditional tea countries such as colonial England or France, questionable quality of teas for offer from local wholesalers gradually led us to collaborate with small but top suppliers of tea, and then to the decision to ensure our own independent and even better sources of completely unique teas of which we can guarantee the quality of.
The selection of teas offered in the Bílý jeřáb tearoom mainly consists of “own” assortment obtained directly from the growers, families and tea masters, with whom we have established not only a business relationship, but also friendships.
We believe that the increase of the Czech tea craft and knowledge of tea lovers opens an opportunity for top-level teas and culture. Otherwise this progress would not have any chance to be realized in our country. Positive and inspiring responses from our guests, media and the public are reflecting the success of our concept and suggest that tea is finally becoming an equal partner to wine, which in Europe has considerably more importance given by its long-standing tradition.
